at Pondok Pekak, Ubud Bali
Gamelan was the main reason I was in Bali.
Since the year 2000, I've been attending the annual gamelan concerts in Vancouver put on by the Indonesian Consulate.
For many years, I'd had a waking dream of visiting a small town and hearing live gamelan on the street corner.
In 2008, i stepped right into that dream when i spent 5 weeks in Ubud,
regularly hearing live gamelan off the street where i lived.
It's an ethereal otherworldy kind of music - like a psychedelic fairy orchestra...
